Today, we have some scheduled routine maintenance for our WiFi car.  Our ACE 06 car will be returning this evening as a 6 car set, instead of a 7 car set.  There will not be any WiFi available on the return trip to the San Joaquin Valley.

ACE Riders-

There will be some new changes to our shuttles that will be effective starting Monday, March 26, 2012.  Please take a look below...

The Purple Shuttle will operate with one vehicle instead of two for all of the ACE Shuttle trips on this route in the morning and in the afternoon/evening.

The Yellow Shuttle will operate with two vehicles for the last ACE Shuttle trip in the morning (ACE #05) and also for the last ACE shuttle trip in the afternoon (ACE#08).  All other ACE Shuttle trips on this route will continue to operate with one vehicle.

The Red Shuttle will operate with two vehicles for the second ACE Shuttle trip in the morning (ACE #03) and also for the second ACE Shuttle trip in the afternoon/evening (ACE #06).  All other ACE shuttle trips on this route will continue to operate with one vehicle.

The smaller Red Shuttle vehicle will be positioned directly behind the larger Red shuttle vehicle for the second ACE Shuttle trip in the morning (ACE #03) and will serve all bus stops along the route EXCEPT for the bus stops inside the security gates at the Lockheed Martin Facility and the Yahoo! stop on 1st Ave. by Mathilda.

The larger Red Shuttle vehicle will serve all of the bus stops on this route for all shuttle trips and will be the ONLY vehicle that is authorized to travel within the security gates of the Lockheed Martin facility.

The vehicle changes are being implemented to improve operational efficiency of the ACE shuttles.  Vehicle resources on all routes have recently been evaluated and are being matched to meet actual demand.

Ridership will continue to be monitored and evaluated for future vehicle adjustment considerations.

The Stanislaus Council of Governments (StanCOG) is currently undertaking the development of the first ever Sustainable Communities Strategy (SCS) as required by Senate Bill 375 (SB 375).  SB 375 seeks to coordinate land use and transportation planning to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from vehicles by creating communities that require driving fewer miles.  There are also many indirect benefits from this type of development.  The product of SB 375 is the SCS, which is an integrated land use and transportation plan that can measure the effect that land use and transportation policies have on emissions.    

StanCOG is planning a robust public outreach effort during the SCS development process.  A key initial endeavor of the outreach effort is to gather public input on the vision of the future of this region.  StanCOG has created a 'Vision Survey' to gather public input on land use (community development) and transportation matters. StanCOG will utilize the information from completed surveys to determine the public's preferences as it pertains to land use and transportation policies. The information gathered from this survey will help craft the SCS, which StanCOG is expected to complete by the end of 2013. In short, this initial outreach effort is to gain information from the public, which will set the path for the SCS.

Attached to this is an electronic version of the Vision Survey, which can be completed on the computer and emailed back.  We encourage all to take a few moments to complete and return the survey.  Also, please forward this survey to any group, organization or individual who may be interested in this process or would like to provide input on land use and/or transportation priorities.  The survey is also available on the StanCOG website at www.stancog.org.

Roadway Engineering Works will begin installing conduit underground, around the platform area, and along the perimeter-driveway of the Lathrop/Manteca Station as part of the new security camera system.

Please notice that there will be periods of time when parking stalls are blocked to allow work to be done on preparing light poles for the cameras.

In addition, there will be trenched areas marked off limits.  Please be cautious and aware of the construction taking place between February 6 - February 24th.

Construction on the long awaited ACE Video Surveillance System will begin at Stockton's Cabral Station the week of December 12, 2011.

The estimated completion date for this piece is the end of January, 2012.  During this time there will be large pieces of equipment on the property and certain parking areas adjacent to the bus lanes, and in both gated lots, will be temporarily unavailable.  Affected areas will be posted.

This is the first station of many stations that will see cameras installed from Stockton to Pleasanton.  As the project moves west to the other stations, information will be communicated to our customers at those locations.

Overall the entire project is expected to last until mid-August 2012.  Its a long awaited prjoect to designed to bolster safety and security.  We ask for your patience during the construction of this state-of-the-art surveillance system that will increase the safety and security of passengers, employees, and property.

We've had some train delays lately, and we apologize for the hazzle.  ACE has been working on increasing the communication to passengers and in the same time we've been trying to increase our communication with the freight railroad - our landlord.

Well our landlord has been conducting "Operational Testing" throughout its entire system to ensure incidents like what occurred at Jack London Square in Oakland a few weeks ago won't happen again.

The communication about these subsequent intermittent delays hasn't been great, and we will work on making it better.  Thank you for your patience, and thanks for riding ACE.

ACE riders - we need your feedback!

We are working on putting together the calendar of ACE operating days for the 2012 calendar years and we need some help in determining whether or not we will have any riders on the days before Christmas and New Years.  Christmas in 2012 falls on a Tuesday and New Years Day a week later also falls on a Tuesday; that means Christmas Eve and New Years Eve are both on Monday's. 

So the question is, frankly, who's going to be on the train on December 24, 2012 and December 31, 2012?

ACE would like to hear from you!  Would you be interested in a round-trip midday bus between the RTD Downtown Transit Center (DTC) in Stockton and the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station?  RTD is proposing a schedule that might be beneficial for ACE passengers who travel to the Tri-Valley and even San Francisco areas. 

The new bus would leave Stockton's DTC at 11:15 am each weekday and travel directly to the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station, arriving at 12:15 pm.  The same bus would turn around, leaving at 12:30 pm, and arrive back at the DTC at 1:30 pm.

If you'd take this bus, let us know.

A few ACE passengers have contacted us regarding challenges in parking at the ACE Great America Station.  It does appear spaces are limited based to a certain extent on the fact we share the lot with Amtrak passengers.  As most of you know, the City of Santa Clara has also put a few regulations on when vehicles can be parked along the street.  We are currently monitoring the situation and will post here when we have a sense for how we can help matters.  Thanks for contacting us, and thanks for your patience.
